Will the 15 dollar hourly raise be granted to work studies?
sminner
53:16
Terri---about what percentage of our undergraduate students (in-state) will pay zero tuition and fees?
Dr. Denise Montoya
53:58
Good question, Kyle. The $15 minimum wage increase does not apply to students.
Regent Chris Ulibarri

The Build Main Campus Program, are International Students eligible.

Most in-state undergraduate students will not pay any tuition or fees, thanks to the lottery and opportunity scholarships. As long as the GPA requirements are met, these should cover those expenses
Naja Hill
01:02:02
I’m an out-of-state student and I didn’t catch how much the increase to the tuition would be. Can that be repeated? And what resources/scholarships are available for out-of-state students to help pay for tuition?
Karla Espinoza
01:03:02
It appears to me that we are comfortable with the increase as an undergrad education is essentially free… this is not the case for graduate students and I am wondering the reason for a 2 percent increase rather than a 1 or 0 percent?
tlaw
01:03:51
Hello Naja, current students can apply for Foundation scholarships via Awardspring here - https://nmhuscholarships.awardspring.com/. Criteria for these vary, but include in-state, out of state, international, and graduate and undergraduate students. The proposed discounting by GPA for out of state students would also apply to current students, not just incoming freshmen. Also, please connect with our financial aid office for more resources.

Mr. Baca gave us a lot of numbers. Just to be clear. What is the total cost of tuition and fees for the upcoming fall semester for a grad student?
Regent Chris Ulibarri
01:05:02
Jay, at this moment the total cost has not been set. Dr. Montoya, what is the current cost?
Henrietta Romero
01:05:02
Hello VP Baca can students stack their resources using waivers like the WUE and WRGP on top of the new program offered for tuition and fees?
tlaw
01:05:15
The exact % increase and $$ amount for all tuition rates will be decided by the Board of Regents on Friday......please come to the meeting to share your views.

Can you clarify the available scholarships that NMHU have available for Graduate students to apply for? What percentage of tuition would that cover if the graduate student meets all criteria and is selected?
tlaw
01:05:40
No, the discounts cannot be stacked with other waivers

Thanks Chris

Hello Sierra, we have approximately 30 Foundation scholarships available for graduate students. The application cycle for Fall 2022 for these scholarships will open in April at the link previously posted. The amounts vary by scholarship. These are donated and are in different amounts, with different selection criteria
Dr. Denise Montoya

However this is only a recommendation. The board will decide in an upcoming board meeting.

Max with changing modalities and space allocation needs, did the legislature speak to recommendations for public institutions to consider related to physical space, programming and declining enrollments?

There are more than 1,000 vacant licensed positions in New Mexico, with those vacancies represent over 20,000 students who are without a well-trained, permanent classroom teacher, according to union officials.
Regent Chris Ulibarri

tlaw I am aware of the foundation scholarship. Can graduates in state students apply for both Lottery and Opportunity scholarship? And what percentage of the tuition will those cover in state graduate students?
tlaw
01:16:26
About 84% of all students are in state
tlaw
01:17:24
Hello Sierra, Lottery and opportunity scholarships are only for undergraduate students

01:17:45
How will this affect students with athletic scholarships?
tlaw
01:18:09
Out of state students receiving an athletic scholarship or waiver would not be eligible for the discount in addition to that
Faith Lovato
01:18:51
Would in state students receive the extra money then?
Karla Espinoza
01:18:55
Happy birthday to her! Thank you President Minner!!

Faith, the in-state students would just already receive the lower in-state tuition rate in addition to any athletic scholarship
